National Hummus Day

Do you love dipping your veggies and pita bread into delicious and nutritious hummus? If so, you're not alone! Hummus is one of the most popular dips in the world. It's made with chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic, and it's packed with protein and fiber. Did you know May 13th is national hummus day? In honor of this special day, let's take a closer look at all the benefits and nutrition of hummus.

Nutritious benefits of hummus

  1. Hummus is a good source of protein. This makes it perfect for vegetarians and vegans who want to add more protein to their diets.

  2. It's also a good source of fiber, which can help with digestion. Hummus is low in calories and fat, making it a healthy snack option.

  3. Hummus is also packed with vitamins and minerals. Some of the nutrients in hummus include iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. Hummus also contains vitamins C and B-12.

Now that we know all about the wonderful benefits of hummus, let's get to the good part, the recipe.

Here is my favorite hummus recipe:

In a food processor, combine one can of chickpeas (drained and rinsed), two tablespoons of tahini, two tablespoons of olive oil, the juice from half a lemon, and one clove of garlic. Blend until smooth and creamy. Serve with fresh veggies or pita bread for dipping. Enjoy
